D-METAL FLASHING "DRIP EDGE" - WHAT HOMEOWNERS NEED TO KNOW
Your house has a Style D flashing, a type of drip edge. In our extensive experience we have found that water will seep down the face of the metal and run down the fascia board, staining and deteriorating the condition of your paint and/or wood. When we install our gutters underneath this type of metal, as we would underneath any drip edge style, the water follows the metal edge and has a tendency to leak where our gutter attachments penetrate your fascia.
In order to remedy this situation we are installing a counter flashing on top of the existing D-metal style flashing to extend the edge so that the water will travel a path that leads it to the center of the gutter, rather than down behind the gutter.
